This rifle is blue finished and chambered in 6.5x54 Mannlicher. ![]() There is also what looks to be a Crown G mark if so, it would indicate the rifle was probably made for export to Sweden, with whom Mauser had a large military contract at the time. Custom Mauser Oberndorf Model 98 fitted with a 20 1/2-inch barrel and a beautiful checkered Mannlicher high gloss walnut stock. A mark underneath the barrel indicates groove size as 8.2mm which would be correct for the 8x57S cartridge for which specs had already been established in 1904 although military adoption did not take place until 1905 the bore and twist marks are correct for the cartridge. The proof marks are the period-correct Crown B and Crown U.
