Families, reality TV nuts, and comedy fans can take advantage of the sound quality and performance of these main stereo speakers. I'd imagine something that is similar to your center (if your center is timbre-matched to your fronts). The Cambridge Soundworks Newton Series T200 are a great selection when you need professional quality sound in your home. I don't know enough about Polk anymore to advise you as to which surrounds to get. You'll also be missing something when it comes to movies, but you won't notice as much as you will with music. In a nutshell, you can presently get away with having mismatched surrounds for movies, but you will be missing something when it comes to music. So if you really want that being there feeling in movies too, you should get matched surrounds. And sound is sound, whether it is music or in a movie. But movies seem to be making more and more use of surrounds. You will get a much better feeling of being there live if your fronts and surrounds are timbre-matched (like your fronts and your center should be).įor movie watching, you don't necessarily need matched surrounds (because the surrounds get used much less than the fronts). The subwoofer bundled with the SurroundWorks 200 package is unique, however. I find that the timbre in this speaker is a little flat. The slim front panel sports tiny but informative readouts and a set of A/V inputs. I would use this centerstage for movies and watching TV, but probably not for music (especially classical or jazz). It is best used in dialog or where is a lot of vocals. It has nice dispersion, and the music with it is decent. It is deep in bass and crisp in the midrange. I just bought the speaker a couple of days ago and it is really nice. This center channel was CSW flagship center for a long time (over 5 years~!). The centerstage lists for $199, but now it is $129! What a deal. I just want to tell you folks who are interested in buying a center channel speaker that Cambridge Soundworks is now having a huge local store sale (not on the internet) as of September 1, 2001.
